Question:
Why do I get black or partially black images when I use the POCKETWIZARD radio transceiver?
Answer: Answer last updated:03-11-09
There are two possible causes for this situation:
  1. The wrong firmware version is installed in your camera. You must use Firmware v5.1.5 or higher. Visit the DCS Firmware and Host Software Web page to download the latest firmware version for your camera free of charge.

  2. You are operating your camera outside the recommended exposure specifications:
Shutter Sync Limits: Camera limited at 1/60
Sync Time (pop-up flash down): 0.5 ms
Sync Time (pop-up flash up): 5.1 ms
If the problem still exists when you use Firmware v.5.1.5 or higher and you operate your camera within the recommended exposure specifications, your camera needs repair. If you live in the US or Canada, contact our authorized service center for repair information:
Midwest Camera Repair, Inc.
318 Oak Street
